2025: A Crucial Year for Enterprises to Apply for Top - Level Domains
Since the birth of the Internet, there has only been one open application for top - level domains. For this round of applications, ICANN has decided to adopt an auction mechanism to resolve competition issues for the same top - level domain names. It also prohibits any form of private settlement in the next round and the establishment of joint ventures after submitting applications. This means that enterprises need to conduct early investigations to check for enterprises with the same or similar names and formulate relevant strategies and contingency plans.
As a promoter of the global Internet community, ICANN plays a significant role in the management of global domain names and IP addresses. Just as ICANN's slogan goes, "One World, One Internet", the borderless nature of the Internet has broken geographical limitations. This conference also echoes this theme, allowing those concerned about the domain name industry to discuss the development of the domain name industry from anywhere in the world.
